What an exciting start to our first social media fundraising campaign! In less than twenty days, we’ve already earned 23 supporters that have pledged to contribute 58% of our funding goal! We’ve also received many wonderful emails of support and admiration for our wigmaking initiative. And we’ve received offers for volunteer time. What a windfall for HairFlair for Hope.
More good news just arrived! We received the green light to bring our wigmaking workshops directly to the cancer patients at George Washington Hospital’s Chemotherapy Center. In April, we will bring wigs (which are 75% complete, to take the long hours out of this workshop), and watch as our clients customize their very own look with the colors and textures that best represent who they are and how colorful they feel.
We have also been invited to participate in another local Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) session. LGFB is a national public service program for people undergoing treatment for cancer to receive a free cosmetology makeover along with an everyday synthetic wig. At the end of the LGFB session, HairFlair for Hope will supply these women with the addition of a HairFlair fantasy wig. After all, a girl cannot have too many choices! Here is what Janel, a LGFB attendee, said about how our wig made her feel at the last LGFB session:
“Your wigs are beautiful and made everyone feel amazing… Once I tried it on, it gave me such a lift! I love it! I am even planning a special day to wear it to work. Thank you for making that day so special for me…
Thank you for reminding us that cancer did not take the fun out of us ”
Because of the support we receive from caring people like you, we will be able to continue to give our unique wigs to children and adults who need a boost of fun and color in their lives. Please consider making a small pledge to the HairFlair for Hope campaign and help us meet (or reach our goal). There are only 65 days left before our funding campaign comes to a close. We understand that times are tight right now but you can still help by spreading the word. Please post a link to our campaign on your Facebook Page or by emailing or tweeting your network of friends. Thank you for sharing your awareness of this campaign with anyone you think might be touched by what we are doing.
